A technical fault at Edinburgh's ATC meant no aircraft could enter or leave the facility.

Air travel have resumed at Edinburgh Airport after a substantial ATC system failure grounded all flights.

All aircraft movements were stopped due to an IT issue that arose around 08:30.

Several flyers found themselves stranded in jets at the stand as the outage continued.

Operations Restart with Continued Disruption

A statement indicated at 10:40 that operations had restarted, and thanked passengers for their "cooperation and patience".

However, ongoing issues are likely to persist for some time. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been axed, with a host of additional flights subject to postponements.

Officials had previously estimated that dozens of flights could be affected.

"Travelers are urged to check directly with their airline for the most up-to-date details on their specific flights," was the consistent advice.

Root of the Disruption

The airport attributed the full ground stop to an IT issue with its control tower systems vendor.

Travelers are still being urged to verify the schedule of their trip before departing to the hub as knock-on effects are worked through.
