Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.
The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.
Official Complaints Currently Not on File
No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Rice's Recent Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
Statistically, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
